For five weeks, Pollinator—a set of five interconnected structures linked by a giant wheel—served as a temporary home for a community of artists. Created by Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley, the project brought together eighteen Hong Kong-based artists to explore creative exchange in a space where daily routines were intentionally disrupted.
During each residency, rotating groups lived, ate, slept, worked, and relaxed inside Pollinator. Moving between structures required physical cooperation, as the large connecting wheel could only be powered by the residents themselves.
Throughout their time together, artists relied on one another for food, problem-solving, and companionship. This interdependence fostered deeper relationships and encouraged creative collaboration. They also engaged with passersby, sharing their work and shaping Pollinator‘s meaning through ongoing public dialogue.
